Actually, boaters used the former "Cedars" beach at this site until the railroad filled it in about 100+ years ago. (See attached photo. "Vue de l'eau Pavilion" means "View of the Water Pavilion", a once-popular beach resort at Hallock Ave. & First St. in Oyster Point, re-named City Point by the Hallock family in 1868.)
