Description

All too often there are cars speeding at extreme speeds to "cut through" between Weymouth and Steele Rd. I have (2) kids myself and there are many more neighborhood kids on the street. The kids are growing now where we are out more often. I think there is opportunity to place 2-4 speed bumps strategically on the road to prevent it from being used as a "cut through".

Just because you bought a house on a road that is used as a cut through and people speed through it, doesn't mean that others in town like myself will be speeding. Why should I have to drive over speed bumps with my car? How about you keep your kids from playing in the street? It's not like your located in Thompsonville and you have no backyard for the kids to play in. Speed bumps, wow, you put alot of thought into this. We should put speed bumps throughout Enfield because there are schools everywhere and parents want their kids to play in the street like it's Hartford.

Please remember the issue at hand is not kids playing in the street. The issue at hand are the drivers that speed on public roads. I have seen well over 50 mph in a 25 zone. I have seen cars going so fast they are essentially 3 wheeling it at the apex. That is not right. So I ask you mr. "RunningYourKidsOver" how would you prevent the speeding in this scenario?

Further. I certainly do not want to impose on those who follow the rules. I myself hate speed bumps and would not enjoy driving over them. I challenge you to think about this. Next time you are driving "the speed limit" down any road with a turn, imagine for one second a car coming at you head on well over the speed limit. You say... "wow you put alot of thought into this" you are right...

Yeah, Jay you are correct. I'm calling "B.S." on that response from "RunningYourKidsOver." What an absolutely ridiculous, selfish, unsafe, needs-to-have-his-license-taken-away response. And the fact that the writer decided to try to create some sort of comparison to Hartford and the Thompsonville section of Enfield lets you know exactly where he's coming from. I'm reporting it as inappropriate.

That said, there are other options aside from speed bumps out there as well, like traffic speed signs that warn drivers to slow down. Here's one thing you can probably do easily - get one of these signs: http://www.drivelikeyourkidslivehere.com/
