Almost every school day between 3:15 and 4:30 PM unlicensed street vendors selling Marino ices station themselves near the Mr. Softee truck outside of the PS 217 playground and on weekends, these unlicensed vendors sometimes go into the playground.

While the man who has the Mr. Softee truck has serviced the neighborhood for 21 years as a licensed vendor who obeys the health code, city vendor laws, and pays taxes on what he makes, the people running these carts do not pay for licenses, serve ices and ice cream without wearing gloves or hats and I suspect are not paying taxes on what they make.

For both health reasons and to support those who play by the rules, there really needs to be enforcement of the licensing laws on a consistent basis
