No particular problem at Madison & Wallace, 1 block above Knechtel & at entry to Island Rehab, as long as pedestrians step off the curb & into the crosswalk. Will flags encourage drivers to stop upon sight of a pedestrian on the sidewalk looking like they may want to cross?
On Madison the crossings are recognizable as they are located at intersections, visibility along the roadway is good, and there are a limited number if traffic interactions for drivers to process. The City has limited the use of flag stations to Winslow Way and supporting the School Districts use of flags stations in school zones. Flag stations are costly to support in that they require periodic inspection and resupply. Engineering is not recommending implementation of flag stations along Madison at this time.
