Just wait till you want to walk you child in a stroller and all the stones from the repairs get kicked up buy the cars coming down the raod. They do some damage to legs when walking. And forget about riding a bike with all those stones. way too dangerous.

we lived in that area 8 years, moved 3 years ago, went back 2 weeks ago it is embarrassing how the Town of Enfield wasted all that money on Town Farm Road for a "BIKE PATH" but can't fix roads in the Buckhorn neighborhood so they are safe....Another reason we moved

All day kindergarten? No I do not trust my childs education to be left to our public schools, with underpaid overworked teachers and my personal experience as an Enfield student I see our education going down the drain. A quality wholesome non bias learning experience doesn't exist unless you can pay up. There is no excuse for our nations mistakes, and I refuse to stand by and let our war driven money hungry society destroy my hometown, no sir no mam, I plan to fight for what I believe in. What I believe in is respect from our politicians who work for its citizens, but it seems that's the other way around now, because lots of us live in fear and intimidation. Every problem has a solution, and everyone has an excuse for why they cannot. But the granddaddy of all problems today is a lack of awareness; or laziness? No maybe its intimidation, or it could be MONEY. a lack of it can deprive you of believing in yourself to fight for what you want done. There's too many problems today to pinpoint the largest. So as a enfield child born and raised starting off with a problem that effects you, your family and where you live is great! I'm a spitfire roaring to speak out for our rights while we still have them. Who will be the ones to do something? I have a voice so I'm gunna use it, first thing I want our roads safe, repave them! Our taxes are high enough, and the struggle of getting by is real for everyone in their own way. Like Veterans(GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU) who make the ultimate sacrifice for you and me, and they have to go about their lives and some go without services they were gaurenteed, just one example. Everyone has problems, and if you tell me something is not possible with town budget i saw it coming. No surprise, but things like money grants exist, the bike path on town farm wasn't something needed desperatley and cost a pretty penny that if I'm correct was a grant the town received. I could be wrong there but point being enough is enough! These roads, the damages that are costly to all our town emergency vehicles, and plow trucks. I know i have a lot to say here but its with purpose and reasonable logic. If you have an opinion state it. I WANT PLANS IN THE NEAR FUTURE TO GET THESE ROADS FIXED PROPERLY!!!! News stations love investigating for people, imagin a whole neighborhood of complaints all related to the condition of our almost 30 year old original roads......

Been following the thread... I believe Joe Bosco will be posting on recent efforts tomorrow. When I spoke to him this afternoon he was awaiting some news. Temporary patches this time of year would probably not help too much as they are still considered cold-material repairs (short term and low quality) until the pavement plants open up for the season. Council well aware of the special needs of your neighborhood. Has much less to do with respect for Buckhorn as it does with the scale of the problem. Mr. LaFave & Ms.Townsend on Kimberly Drive are great advocates for the projects and communicate with Council regularly... i was running on sam street and i fell because there were rocks all over the street and i lost balance. please fix them and pay my doctor bills for my knee. thanks.

I will be sending my repair bills to the town and told the mom to do the same for the dr bills. I hope they plan on sweeping this year.

I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE ROAD CONDITIONS IN BUCKHORN ESTATES FOR 7 YEARS. THIS IS A VERY COMPLEX ISSUE AND CARRIES A PRICE TAG OF 4+ MILLION DOLLARS.

THERE HAVE BEEN ROAD BLOCKS TO GETTING THIS PROJECT FUNDED BUT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND FUNDS TO REPAIR MOST OF KIMBERLY STREET AND EILEEN STREET IN THIS CONSTRUCTION SEASON.

IN THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH U.S REPRESENTATIVE COURTNEYS’S OFFICE FOR FUNDING BECAUSE THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS CONSTRUCTED AS A COURT ORDERED SUB-DIVISION WITHOUT THE TYPICAL CONSTRUCTION INSPECTIONS. THE CONGRESSMAN’S OFFICE ROUTED ME TO STATE REP KINER’S OFFICE, WHO HAS SINCE REACHED OUT TO MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNOR’S TEAM AND THE D.O.T.

WE ARE MEETING ON APRIL 3RD. REP KINER, MATT COPPLER, MYSELF, OUR DPW SUB COMMITTEE MEMBERS-- AS WELL AS THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM D.O.T. AND THE UTILITY COMPANIES-- TO DISCUSS THE BUCKHORN ROADS AND FUNDING TO REPAIR THEM. WHEN WE GET THE RESULTS OF THIS MEETING I WILL ASK THE TOWN MANAGER TO SCHEDULE A MEETING WITH RESIDENTS OF BUCKHORN.

if funny because the town has plenty of money to fix roads (streets off of guild, duff etc) and do things unnessecary(bike path), but can't fix the roads in this neighborhood. pathetic.

I agree. The bike path is more for walkers, which is fine but I find it unecessary. The bike riders still use the road and refuse the path. No wonder why we have no one buying houses in our neighborhood and they all have to forclose. I remember looking at over 100 homes and roads in the neighborhoods were part of my choices. These roads weren't as bad as they now are. Have they gone down Renee. It is undrivable and children live right at the worst section!!! I don't even want to live in this town anymore. Joe how can we help get the funds to fix our neighborhood? I have plenty of pictures I can send.

THE BIKE PATH PROJECT IS THE TYPE OF FUNDING THAT WE ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOK OUT FOR. ENFIELD WANTED TO RECONSTRUCT TOWN FARM ROAD FOR YEARS AND WOULD HAVE HAD A LONG TIME TO WAIT TO FUND DIRECTLY. THE FEDS HAD A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDED FUNDING FOR CONSTRUCTION ON ROADS THAT INCLUDED A BIKE PATH... WE GOT THE ROAD AND A NEW AND SAFE RECREATION PATH.

WE DID MEET LAST WEEK AT BUCKHORN. ENGINEERS FROM D.O.T DROVE THE ENTIRE AREA. WE DISCUSSED THE NEIGHBORHOOD'S HISTORY, THE COURT DECISION, AND THE ESTIMATES FOR FULL RECONSTRUCTION. AN UPDATE FROM REP KINER IS EXPECTED VERY SOON. IN THE MEANTIME, PLANS TO START WORK ON KIMBERLY DRIVE CONTINUE.

I AM ALSO EXPECTING A STATUS REPORT FROM YANKEE GAS ON THEIR STUDY. THE VERY LAST THING WE WOULD WANT TO SEE DONE IS A MAJOR ROAD PROJECT ONLY TO HAVE THE SERIOUS UTILITY ISSUES CONTINUE. DIGGING UP AN EXPENSIVE NEW ROADWAY IS ALWAYS A TERRIBLE OUTCOME. THE GAS PROBLEM MUST BE DEALT WITH FIRST.

you should start with christopher.it is the worst street in the nrightborhood and it is very necessary especially with that stupid fence someone had to put up, you try to swerve from hitting pot holes but then almost get into a car accident because you can't see around the fence. if you can't take the fence down, at least fix the road. its a hazard and has caused MULTIPLE scares of an accident. fix that first, then move to kimberly.

Hi Joe, Is there an update on the outcome for Buckhorn? As you may have seen from my other post another child was injured in this neighborhood due to the gravel from patching. This is 3 injuries reported so far. Still more gravel since they cleaned the streets. Another repair was done and more gravel. I have plenty of pictures.
