A tree fell across the little creek behind our neighbors house in our neighborhood, damming the water when it rains. This causes the water to wash up on our property, wearing away the soil. When the floods occurred in May, this creek became a river, washing tons of debris down it, jamming on that tree, and causing the water to rise about 5 or 6 feet into our backyard, washing away the foundation. Now, everytime it rains, it backs up on our property, washing away more and more foundation. Our neighbor refuses to do anything about it, as well as all the city, county, & state "officials" we have spoken to. What can be done about this? Who's responsibility is it to clear this dam away? There are a lot of children in the neighborhood, and one of them could decide to take climbing on this debris pile as a challenge, fall, and be seriously injured.
8/25/10: UPDATE: Not only is this still blocked, but now the standing water is causing swarms of mosquitoes, making this a health issue - could very well be a hotbed of growth for West Nile Virus!!
10/09/10 UPDATE: The mosquitoes in our yard and driveway are now so bad, we can't even go outside or to our cars without getting bitten several times. Can't someone do something about this?
