Overgrown lot - oppossum Acknowledged

1512 West 45th St Richmond, Virginia - Forest Hill

Three of the last four evenings, I noticed opossum on my lot acting strangely. The adjacent lot at 1512 is overgrown especially in the rear creating potential habitat for opossum, skunks, snakes, rats etc.

Out of concern that such animals - especially those I've noticed in the last week - might have rabies, the overgrown vegetation and shrubbery needs pruning, downed tree limbs removed, inoperable lawn equipment removed, "weed" trees removed, and the grass maintained at levels appropriate for a residential neighborhood. Other neighbors have asked the owner to keep her property properly maintained with little lasting success. It appears the owner is now only a part-time resident of the property.

  It was my understanding that this system is designed to inform the City Government of issues that need timely attention - not participate in social networking wherein others, who may or may not be residents of Richmond - vote to determine whether the issue is "important enough" for the city to respond. This issue has been "open" two days - when will it be referred to the proper city officials? Or do I need to telephone someone - if so give me the number

  Tree limbs and other vegetation overhang the alley where they obstruct taller vehicles such as trash collection trucks, and volunteer "weed" trees have begun to grow between the rear fence and the alley itself. Limbs from damaged trees are piled between the fence and alley where they have been for months.

Roadside Vegetation Acknowledged

4201-4601 Riverside Dr Richmond, VA - Forest Hill

The encroachment of vegetation along the south side of Riverside Drive between 42nd and Westover Hills Blvd makes the turns extremely dangerous for walkers, runners and bicyclists for a couple of reasons. The non-motorist are 'pushed' further into the road by the overgrown vegetation. Additionally, it is more difficult for drivers to see the individuals around the corners until they become extremely near them.

  the 2 sides of this home are on the alley... only way to get to 4702-4710 Riverside Drive. There are bushes that grow in excess of 12 inches out into the roadway which presents a safety issue. When driving both in and out one can not see if there is a pedestrian, a bicyclist or another car coming in the other direction. Please address this as the "out of state owners" do as little as possible.

This situation with overgrowth at 2004 Southcliff Road was formally submitted to Richmond Code Enforcement (Request #20020834585) so that proper inspection and handling can take place accordingly. The Code Enforcement Officers has written a notice of violation and the owner has been cited. Code Enforcement continually is monitoring this property to have the owner meet compliance.
