The speeding on Lenox st is getting out of control. The city should put up signs and speed bumps in order to control the amount of speeding cars driving on Lenox st. Lexington ave, after the car race accident, got speed bumps and the amount of speeding cars has slowed down. Also the speeding on quinnipiac ave has slowed down after speed bumps and signs were added to the street. I strongly feel that Lenox st is well over due for speed bumps and signs. I moved on Lenox st in 1999. With-in 3 days still getting settled in I almost got hit by a speeding car when my basketball rolled into the middle of Lenox st. I now have a 7 year old nephew and a 3 year old niece that live on Lenox st, I fear for their and everyone else's safty! Please vote to help!!
177 Lexington Ave New Haven, CT
Last night after dark in the pouring rain there was a MAJOR accident on Lexington. Numerous households called 911. An SUV drove right into 2 parked cars without ever even using his brakes. This accident could have killed the driver and anyone within 25' of where it happened. The driver could have been seriously injured, he could have ran, he could have been in trouble with the owners of the cars that he ruined and it took OVER a half of an hour for anyone to arrive.
He was drunk and admitted it on the scene.
Wrecked cars and people in the street did not stop a few people from speeding right through the scene which could have caused more accidents and possibly death.
I pay too much to live in this city for failed services.
I witnessed one of the cops stuffing his face with food inside the car while people were still all over the street . No flares were set up, nobody was directing traffic and the guy was eating which leads me to believe many negative things which I dont need to go into.
On top of it all the tow truck driver did not attempt to clean the street up which I believe is their job. Maybe the city doesnt want to burden them with such menial tasks and they would rather the neighborhood residents go into the street with numerous speeders that drive by unchecked and sweep it up.
Corner Of Lenox St. And East Grand Avenue New Haven, CT
we are concerned re: number of serious accidents on this corner and are requesting a blinking light or speed bumps to slow traffic. 12 accidents there in last 2 years with much damage and at least one fatality

Constant speeding along Quinnipiac Avenue between Grand and Ferry. The speed limit is posted as 25MPH and this is a bicycle route. However, traffic moves at between 35 and 40MPH on average.

There is constant speeding occurring on Clifton St (where the posted speed limit is 25 mph but the average speed is closer to 40+ mph). In addition, people are always blowing the stop signs on Russell St. Needless to say there is atleast one accident a year at this intersection and numerous near misses. Either a four-way stop sign or speed bumps are needed to slow down the traffic on Clifton St. This is also a high pedestrian traffic area due to both a city bus stop and school bus stops and it can be dangerous crossing the street due to the speeding vehicles.

Motorcycles continue to speed down Lexington Ave. Back and forth for about 45 min. tonight. Called non-emergency number at around 11pm tonight and as usual no police showed up. There was nothing going on in east shore on any police scanner stations.

The White minivan w/ People's Laundromat on the side was driving like a maniac, speeding and ran stop sign at 835am on 4/6/10
Connecticut 80 New Haven, CT
A red BMW was speeding along Rte 80 today, 10-24-11, and and blew the red light left turn signal at Eastern St. at 12:56pm, them he proceeded to try to pass the person in front of him, then sped well over the 25 mph limit, and them made a rt onto Hemingway w/o a turn signal - which was not working anyway. A real dangerous driver. CT# 821 YTZ
Grand Avenue Bridge New Haven, CT
There have been many issues where the bridge tender will open the bridge while people are on it or will open it when cars are entering the ramp. There are no flashing lights and/or sirens. This is a major public safety issue
560-642 Russell St New Haven, CT
Saw this just reported on NHI:
Quad Driver Critical
A quad driver crashed into a tree Monday night and almost lost his life.
The driver, who’s around 20, was passing a car while driving his quad on Russell Street by Clifton in the Heights at around 6:14 p.m., according to Sgt. Anastasio. He smacked into a tree. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where is reported in critical condition.
It is illegal to drive a quad in the streets. Police in neighborhoods like the Heights have had their hands full this summer chasing after dirt bikers and quad drivers.
I bet this is the guy I saw shortly before that pooping wheelies on a white quad, speeding on 1st Avenue. Can the NHPD please take this more seriously in our neighborhood, and can more neighbors call them when they see this? Next time it will be someone else, one of our law-abiding neighbors, that these scofflaws injure, or worse.
1-5 Clifton Street New Haven, CT
While watching several fire trucks and police parked up and down Quinnipiac Avenue respond to a call at Grand Bridge Restaurant, a dirt bike speeding flies right past the scene with no response from law enforcement. I understand that they may have been busy but really, no response, at all. Ironic. This neighborhood is going down the drain.
Front And Lombard Streets New Haven, CT 06513, USA
There is a very dangerous situation that needs to be fixed at the intersection of Lombard and Front Streets in Fair Haven just before the Quinnipiac River. In a car accident some months ago the barrier and fence in front of the river at the intersection were damaged; the sign indicating the end of Lombard Street is missing. Someone not familiaar with Front street could easily go into the river.
For safety and aesthetic reasons, the broken rusty fence with unsightly invasive plants and poison ivy along the Quinnipiac River in Dover Beach Park on Front Street also needs to be replaced. It is located between the new fence on the rebuilt seawall and the new fence at the foot of Lombard Street.
835-943 Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, CT 06513, USA
The road is only plowed to allow one lane of travel from grand st to foxon-very dangerous as two cars can barely pass and there's rampant speeding.
644-706 Russell St New Haven, CT 06513, USA
I got rear ended waiting at this stop sign. I had to battle with insurance companies and doctor visits. It's only a two way stop rather than 4 way, so you have to yield to west bound speeders coming down from cliftons blind hill. It's a hard intersection to navigate as a two way and would like to see this become a four way stop.
Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, CT
Is this how all the roads get so damaged here? Brand new road surface has been left torn up after utility, gas or other company that needed to get under the road has finished their work and left the road in a much worse state than when they got there.
Speed bumps would work much better than new potholes on Quinnipiac av.
729-833 Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, CT 06513, USA
The hill school looks abandoned. Are there plans to keep it a school or sell it? It is badly in need of maintenance. Crumbling brownstone wall, actively falling, broken rusty metal handrails, peeling maybe original lead paint, mold, 12" tall grass, broken asphalt and other trip hazards abound.
I would like to know what the timeline is for these repairs. Keeping or selling they must be done for the safety of the neighborhood.
24 Hemingway St New Haven, CT
The yearly problem is back. The Brush, weeds and small trees seem to be worse then ever. You can not see pulling out of 1st Ave. to Hemingway street. The problem is from the mail box to 24 Hemingway st. to the corner of 1st Av.. A few of the neighbors are interested in helping keeping it down but the city needs to cut it back first.
Quinnipiac Ave New Haven, CT
There is constantly a Jaguar or a Cadillac parked over the entire sidewalk at this location. Pedestrians have to walk into or cross the street in order to get thru. I spoke with one of the vehicle owners and was glared at and told, "Yeah? We got a parking problem here."
Personally, I don't care. I want to be able to push my kids stroller and visit my neighbors without having to walk into a road saturated with speeders at a three way intersection. I tried to warn them the friendly way, now ticket or tow 'em.
36 E Grand Ave New Haven, CT 06513, USA
the lack of snow removal has lead to piles of snow going 6-8 feet into east grand ave. side walks have also been neglected by the city and has resulted in pedestrians walking in the busy street. I have seen women pushing baby strollers in the middle of east grand ave being passed by speeding buses. something must be done before someone is seriously injured or killed.
Grand Ave. & Quinnipiac Ave. New Haven, CT
Please spread the word, meeting site to come shortly. We will be addressing various safety issues, so bring your concerns, and a neighbor, if possible. Block 9-39 will cover the area from the river up the hill to Lexington, south to Oxford and north to Runo Terrace by the school. Others nearby these boundaries are welcome as well.
Officer Hartmann will be attending this meeting. I will post an agenda as soon as possible as well. thanks, Larry.
20 Eastern St New Haven, CT 06513, USA
the road is in desperate need of paving, the section between 22 and 20 eastern st has a bad patch job and pot hole around man hole which causes the already speeding cars on the street to either swerve to avoid it or when they go over it, (especially large trucks) it rattles and creates a un bearable noise that we can't even have our window open in the summer time. This has been like this for at least 8 years. it's been reported several times and nothing has been done.
110 Lexington Ave. New Haven, CT
There are tow large potholes right at the speed bump. Unfortunately they're located located where you either turn toward packed cars or oncoming traffic to avoid them. My wife called over a week ago, but noting done yet.
