Broken branches very dangerous tree . Now the Clifton city is not taken care.they said is county tree. The county said if tree still alive they can't do anything. So is more precious an dying tree or human being. ??????

I'm a neighbor who is thankful the city is doing what it can to control the halloween mess at this house. it was better last year with the parking ban. he can't hang things from the power lines anymore but i see he still is hanging things in the half-dead trees owned by the city (between the sidewalk and road). there's not a city around that doesn't disallow this. please consider telling him it's illegal to hang things from street trees... i know there must be an ordinance about it somewhere. take away as much of the overhead display as you can and this guys stuff loses some of the "wow" factor and helps give us some peace.

I was walking by this neighbor's house today, Sunday 1/2/2011, when I saw a pile of either refuse or yard waste burning in the northeast corner of their backyard. When I walked by later, around 2PM, the pile was still smouldering, unattended, and within about 20 feet of trees and shrubbery on the border of their property. The large condo complexes and houses nearby could all be in danger from this kind of activity.
Who do I call if this happens again? The fire dept? The police??
If someone's available and passing by from the proper agency, please have them take a look in case the ashes are still there. I feel very unsafe with my neighbor lighting outdoor, unattended fires in my neighborhood.

Since April 6, 2010 we've constantly reported to the city of Clifton, that the trees they planted along the street are interfering with the power lines & wires. Since Clifton has done NO maintenance or trimming on these trees since they've planted them, the trees have grown taller than our houses. This past storm has brought 3 trees done, and damaged 4 cars. How many more cars need to be damaged? How many more power outages need to occur? What dangerous conditions/events need to occur before Clifton takes necessary action?
77 - 137 Abbe Ln Clifton, NJ - Clifton
From #77 to approximately #137 Abbe Lane, both sides of the street are covered with many downed trees from the recent snow storm. Most trees & debris obstructs the flow of traffic - I'm tired of driving over trees and scratching the paint on my car because the DPW is lazy! And I say lazy because DPW was already on this street a few days ago.... they cleaned up about the first quarter of the way down the street from Van Houten Avenue & then left, never to return.
It is not fair that my neighbors & I must drive over/ through these downed tree branches and ruin the finish on our cars – it’s like driving through an obstacle course made up of large piles of felled branches & residents’ cars!! The downed tree limbs create limited visibility for drivers, especially those who do not own an SUV, like myself. It’s an unsafe condition and should have been cleaned up by now, seeing that DPW had cleared the first 25% of the length of this street already.
Get with the program, Clifton DPW! Do something about this, Mr. New Over-paid City Manager! If I was being paid what you were being paid, I’d be out there personally working alongside DPW cleaning – God forbid you get your hands/ pretty suits dirty. Clean up 100% of streets and not just what you feel like doing for the hour or two each day you work.

we have had a major tree fall this past March across the street from my house during a storm which knocked down a pole and power for the entire street from Valley Rd down for three days, there are other trees in front of my house that have very large branches that are hanging very low, if they get hit during a storm, these also will take out power right at the intersection of Van Wagner and Mt. Washington Dr. A couple of yrs ago, I inquired about having the trees removed cause roots were growing in the water lines and I was told by the DPW supervisor that they are owned by the City of Clifton. So I am asking if these can please be taken care of. I live on the corner of this intersection and there are three trees that need to be trimmed.

On the corner of Van Wagner and Mt. Washington Dr. There are many very large tree limbs that are either tangled within other branches and there are many branches that are snapped but not all the way through and are just hanging. This is still from the "October storm " These trees are directly over my Driveway in which I park two vehicles. i would like the city to come and remove them before they come down and damage my cars.

I don't like to complain, i am new to clifton, but the homeowner at this address has halloween decorations hanging from street trees, telephone poles, and even tied to some of the power lines. couldn't this bring down or damage things? isn't that illegal? i am concerned that we will lose power or phone service especially if we have a bad storm.
