Feburary 5th - Snow Storm and PARKING BAN information

February 5th - 4pm Update on the Winter Storm Mayor Toni N. Harp has announced plans for a PARTIAL PARKING BAN on POSTED SNOW ROUTES (including all Downtown Streets) to allow snow removal equipment better access to city streets and arteries. The parking restrictions are intended to streamline the city’s response to today's snowstorm.

There will be an 8 hour parking ban in place beginning Saturday at 2am and going to Saturday at 10am. The ban will include the city’s posted snow emergency routes and all of downtown (bounded by Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, State Street, Grove Street, and Howe Street). The parking ban will be strictly enforced. Map of posted snow routes: http://bit.ly/SnowRoutesNHV

Do NOT park on either side of the street in the Downtown
Do NOT park on either side of the street on all posted snow routes

We are asking residents who are not on a posted snow route or downtown, to park on the Even Side of the street - there is not a residential parking ban but this will greatly improve clean up operations. Remember: Don't be the odd car on the block, park on the even side.
Stay ahead of the storm and secure your emergency parking space before a storm! Help our community cleanup effort by talking to your neighbors and sharing off street parking. Together we can get our city moving again. The Granite Square Garage (FREE) and Temple Street Garage ($3/day) will be available for residents and offer parking beginning Friday evening from 6pm until Saturday at noon. For garage location information, find more on the Park New Haven website: http://www.parknewhaven.com/
Additionally, all New Haven Public School lots are available to be made available for residents to park their vehicle off of the street. We ask that you remove your cars by noon on Saturday in order to facilitate clean-up and regular activities at our school. For a map of all the school lots near you: http://bit.ly/NHVschoollots

If parking your vehicle in a school lot or garage, be sure to empty out any personal possessions as it is probable your vehicle will be inaccessible until streets and parking lots have been cleared of snow. We are also asking that all owners of cars sign up to be notified by the City of New Haven's alerts system for when they should remove their cars in the near future.

Please keep an eye on their website for any service interruptions: http://bit.ly/CTTransitNHV Don't forget! During a snow storm, please work to keep your sidewalks clear to their full width. A lot of your neighbors continue to walk and use our sidewalks, and it is important for a Great City to have clear sidewalks during a storm so we all can still get to the store and to bus stops.
