1/26/15 3 pm Update: Winter Storm Information

The winter storm is predicted to drop 24 - 36" of snow with heavy winds of up to 60 mph at times with possible white-out conditions and coastal flooding. Please stay put! Don't risk yourself or others by driving on the roads tonight or tomorrow. Governor Malloy has announced a state-wide driving ban beginning at 9 pm tonight. The storm is expected to last until late Tuesday evening.

Mayor Toni N. Harp has announced a 42-hour citywide parking ban to allow snow removal equipment better access to city streets - the parking restrictions are intended to streamline the city’s response to this week’s snowstorm. The parking ban will be in place beginning at 6:00 p.m. Monday through noon on Thursday.

On-street parking will not be allowed on both sides of the street in the Downtown, on both sides of all posted snow routes, and on the odd side of the street on all other streets citywide.

Free alternative parking is available in all New Haven Public Schools parking lots, all city parks parking lots, the Granite Square parking garage, Dixwell Plaza lot (behind the Stetson Branch Library), and the  Science Park garage located at 276 Winchester Avenue. Parking is also available at the Temple Street  parking garage for $3/day. Residents are also reminded the neighborhood parking remains permissible on the even-numbered side of city streets. A map of these facilities can be found here:

If parking your vehicle in a lot or garage, be sure to empty out any personal possessions as it is  probable your vehicle will be inaccessible until streets and parking lots have been cleared of snow. We are also asking that all cars be removed from these parking options by noon on Thursday.

CT Transit bus service has posted its expected service interruptions on their website. All trips scheduled to depart downtown New Haven after 7:30pm are cancelled.
