City of New Haven - Snow Emergency Parking Ban
City of New Haven Issues Snow Storm Parking Ban
Mayor Toni Harp has declared a snow emergency for snow removal purposes and has issued a Citywide Parking Ban beginning at midnight Sunday March 2, 2014. The parking ban will remain in effect until lifted by Mayor Harp.
A citywide parking ban means the following:
• No parking downtown on both sides of ALL streets within the area bounded by Howe Street, Tower Parkway, Grove Street, State Street, and Martin Luther King Boulevard, formerly known as North Frontage Road.
• No parking on both sides of ALL posted snow routes, as well as no parking within 25 feet of any intersection, fire hydrant or bus stop.
• Parking in residential areas is permitted ONLY on the even side of the street.
Off street parking garages downtown remain open during snow emergencies. Residents are encouraged to use these facilities as an alternative to parking on the street. The Temple Street Garage and the Crown Street Garage will be available throughout the ban for a subsidized price of $3 per day. Granite Square Garage is free and available until full.
Cars parking in violation of the parking ban are subject to being ticketed and/or towed. For further information, residents are urged to access the city’s web site at www.cityofnewhaven.com, the snow line at 203-946-7669, and local news and media outlets for updates. Thank you.
