The tot lot at Cortelyou and Argyle was in sorry shape Tuesday morning (8/3). What looked like a big pool of vomit on and under one of the benches and the remains of a
dead mouse under the jungle gym. Pretty disconcerting. Also there is an abundance of garbage, uneven floor areas with perpetual and useless orange cones, and the jungle gym has many areas of exposed metal.
1095 Flatbush Ave Brooklyn, NY 11226, USA
There is excessive loose garbage on Cortelyou btw Flatbush and East 22nd on a regular basis. Would it be possible to add garbage cans in that area to help curb this problem? Also, additional garbage receptacles on the corners of Cortelyou Rd and E. 22nd and Dorchester and E. 22nd.
677 Argyle Rd Brooklyn, NY 11230, USA
In June 2010, a large tree limb that fell, hit a parked car and broke the windshield, was cut up by firefighters but left on the sidewalk. The city never came to remove it even with requests to 311. All that was done was the police put caution tape up *across* the street where a branch on a different tree is hanging precariously.
The fallen limb is becoming a garbage dump with people just throwing their garbage in the branches. It won't be long before vermin start hanging out in it either!
353 E 17th St Brooklyn, NY 11226, USA
Sidewalk on Cortelyou between 17th and 18th street in disrepair and always strewn with litter, because. Who is responsible for repairing sidewalk? Because it is a dead zone next to people's back yard/driveway the litter comes in via wind and pedestrian traffic. It doesn't seem fair to place the burden for keeping the block clean on the homeowner.
1322 Cortelyou Rd Brooklyn, NY 11226, USA
John's Bakery (especially the Rugby Road side and adjacent apartment 380 Rugby) not looking after sidewalk and tree pits. Sidewalk never washed down outside bakery. Lots of pigeons, because of unsecured trash from bakery. How can we get the proprietor to look after the area better? Very grimy for a food business. Needs to clean up graffiti on apt. entryway at 380 Rugby. Love the bakery, wish they looked after outside more.
425 Ciney Island Ave Brooklyn, New York
Patients from this methadone clinic urinating all over neighborhood harassing residents for money leaving garbage throughout entire ave Security guards do noting they actually fraternize with them this has to stop Neighborhood is looking like a ghetto
Rugby And Cortelyou Roads Brooklyn, New York
Dead tree, overgrown and litter strewn tree pit next to John's on Rugby side. The bakery staff dump flour in the oak tree pit a bit further down on Rugby. Can they order a new tree and maintain the sidewalk and tree pits better?
400 Argyle Rd Brooklyn, NY
There are group of guys who loiter on Argyle outside the Salahi deli. They start in the evening and are there until the early morning. They drink, smoke pot, yell, fight, and urinate on the adjacent properties. They hit people up for money in a threatening manner, and leave their litter and bottles in and around parked cars, on the sidewalk, etc. And, their noise disturbs the people in the building above them.
2151 Caton Avenue Brooklyn, NY
Copy of email sent to Mathieu Eugene 1/18/13:
I have been a resident of your district for the past 4 years. I live at 2233 Caton Ave on the corner of Bedford, right around your district office on Linden Blvd.
I am writing to complain about an on-going issue regarding the accumulation of garbage in front of an empty lot located at 2151 Caton Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue to the right of a Laundromat located at 2149 Caton Avenue (see 3 photographs attached taken yesterday Thursday January 17, 2013). In spite of numerous complaints filed with the New York Department of Sanitation through 311, the issue invariably reoccurs within days, sometimes hours of removal of the previous batch of garbage by the Department of Sanitation or the Laundromat operators. I have seen local residents discarding anything from fastfood, beds, empty boxes, sofas and any other detritus imaginable. I have seen people urinating, even defecating in that corner. It accumulates until eventually, sometimes after filing 3 or 4 or more complaints with 311, the location is cleaned up, only to be dumped on again within hours. Given that this is before an empty lot, its owner doesn't believe it is obliged to clean the sidewalk. The Laundromat, legitimately so, doesn't think it is obliged to clean the area since it is not before its lot. Meanwhile, local residents use it as a municipal dump. It is ground for highly unsanitary conditions, particularly in the summer, attracts rodents, and reflects poorly on the neighborhood and your district. It is disgusting and no one is being held accountable for it.
I am calling on you to see that this issue is being resolved once and for all. Perhaps the owner of the lot can be found and held accountable for removing the garbage. Perhaps a poster "This is NOT a garbage dump" could be placed on the wooden fence, though I doubt anyone would comply. Perhaps your district could invest in a sidewalk cleanliness campaign to raise awareness of the issue, which is not unfortunately restricted to this corner of Caton Avenue. Whatever the solution may be, I would greatly appreciate that the issue be taken care of. A portion of my tax dollars (city and property taxes) go towards keeping our streets clean.
Thank you for your attention to this matter andI look forward to hearing from you. Best,

In Captain Oakley Jr. Square, across from the address listed in this complaint, neighborhood dog owners allow their animals to defecate in this square without picking up the feces afterwards. This small square is littered with feces everywhere. This issue has been persistant for years until Parks dept. erected a fence around the square in the summer of 2012. The fence was removed in December 2012 without reason. The conditions here are deplorable once again. Thank you.
9 VotesFix it! Voted!Tot Lot Argyle Road brooklyn, NY
The neighborhood Tot Lot is starting to fill up with adults unaccompanied by children, which is a violation of city law. Additionally, since more adults have been in the Tot Lot, an area reserved for toddlers, other small children and their caregivers, there has been a major uptick in cigarette butts, glass bottles, and trash thrown everywhere. This is creating a very unsafe environment for small children. The Tot Lot should be swept and locked at night, as it was previously.
70 E. 18th St Brooklyn, NY 11226
The small triangle area of land behind the Church Ave entrance to the subway station is extremely littered and seems to not be receiving regular cleaning. This is a major eyesore.

John's Bakery's garbage is out of control. Every weekend, especially by Sunday morning the commercial bin is overflowing with garbage so that by Sunday night the sidewalk is filled with cardboard boxes and broken garbage bags. The hauler comes at 1:00 in the morning and then two days later the garbage is overflowing out of the commercial bin again. I have seen sanitation agents there chatting with the owner and ignoring the situation.
1 VoteFix it! Voted!E17th Street And Cortelyou Road Brooklyn, NY
In the past two days, two cars between Cortelyou Road and Dorchester Road on E.18th and E.17th had windows smashed with nothing stolen from the cars. In another related or unrelated incident, a car was stolen on E.17th between Cortelyou Road and Dorchester Road. We need more beat cops in this neighborhood walking on the residential streets, as children are starting to feel unsafe looking at broken glass and connecting the dots.
776 Westminster Rd Brooklyn, NY
There are four cans on the corners of Coney Island and that are also attracting a lot of household garbage and should be removed like we did on Foster. I did notice workers(not Sanitation) tending to cans on Church ave removing garbage and putting in garbage bags. Any idea who funds this and whether it can be done on Coney Island Ave. Thanks Sue Bolles
98 Crooke Ave Brooklyn, NY 11226, USA
Huge chunks of broken Glass that are never cleaned up.
1041 Coney Island Ave Brooklyn, NY 11230, USA
The site was formerly occupied by Elite Car Rental and now a parking lot and lot full of junk. Outside of the fence along the sidewalk is piles of litter. It never seems to be cleaned up and maintained. The litter is next to PS 217.
1616 Cortelyou Rd Brooklyn, NY 11226, USA
This corner outside a bodega has consistent garbage 24/7 litering the corner and block. 3 new trees and a saint whom planted flowers still doesn't persuade passerbys or bodega customers to cross the street to use the can, the occasional cleaning of the tree pits can not keep up. Please put a public garbage can!!
1320 Cortelyou Rd Brooklyn, NY
Sidewalk and tree pits grimy. Pigeons roost in area, because they are fed from bakery, so lots of pigeon feces. Bakery dumpster always overflowing. Whole stretch of Rugby side of bakery off Cortelyou needs consistent washing and cleaning.
