8944-9098 Park Rd Charlotte, NC 28210, USA
Park Road from Park South Drive to Johnson Road and N.C. 51 is currently poasted at 35 miles an hour. It was once 45 but it was lowered to 35 in the wake of a 1998 car-pedestrian fatality in front of South Meck High School. I thought it was reasonable to put in traffic signals on Park Road at the high school, and a school zone is reasonable too, however, 35 for the whole stretch from Park South Drive to N.C. 51 is absurd. Of course it's a residential area, but Park Road is a major throughfare, it's not a back street. I generally abide by the 35 mile an hour speed limit because I don't like being pulled over, but even if I stay in the right lane, people maliciously tailgate me, and sometimes flash their lights and/or blair their horns. If they get around me, they often jump in front of me and almost clip my bumper. It creates a dangerous situation. Having the speed limit lower than what the roadway is actually designed for actually makes it more dangerous. Most people go 45 and 50 on that stretch of Park Road. I think the speed limit should be changed back to 45. The school zone in front of South Meck High should be 35, not 25. And no the issue has not been fixed yet. Police are doing all they can to enforce the 35 mile an hour speed limit, but I still get passed, tailgated and intimidated by aggressive drivers. IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED BACK TO 45!!!!! It still hasn't been fixed yet as of 6/30/13. IT NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 45. The school zone in front of South Meck needs to be 35 NOT 25.
