91 4th Street Ansonia, Connecticut
It appears in the last couple of weeks the Connecticut Post has decided to stop mailing the sales flyers they usually do weekly and instead is tossing them onto lawns, driveways and sidewalks using delivery people of some sort.
While I suspect this is to save postage, my street has orange bags on sidewalks in front of vacant homes, on people's lawns, in their driveways unnoticed, in the street, on sidewalks in front of rental homes where no one looks for "mail", etc.
Do we have a way to stop the Connecticut Post from littering weekly? I am sure saving money is wonderful but cluttering Ansonia (and probably other towns) by throwing bags all over the streets clearly many don't want or don't notice has to be violating a law somewhere.

This weekend I took a friend down to the Greenway / Riverwalk off Division Street. Honestly, because it's longer I often will walk the Derby/Shelton side but we decided to start on the Ansonia side to see how far it goes (not nearly far enough..)
That said, we were stunned that the Ansonia side of the greenway is covered with dog poop. It's scattered all over one end to the other. We had to keep walking around it. We assumed this was an issue the greenway was having universally. WRONG!
We then crossed Division to walk the Derby/Shelton end. SPOTLESS! There wasn't even a piece of trash on the Derby or Shelton portions of the greenway. Ansonia, trash and dog droppings!
I know it's the owner's responsibility to clean this up, but clearly it is not happening at all. How Ansonia offices have not noticed it's greenway is filthy and Derby's is spotless escapes me but my hope is this message will get perhaps Public Works to add cleaning up the greenway to it's list of projects regularly. No, it shouldn't have to... but we can't let "our" side of the greenway look like this. No wonder so few people were on it and Derby's was packed!

I have to pause and say THANK YOU to the company that Ansonia so wisely hired to replace the horrid Winter Bros. to collect resident's trash each week.
Finally, our garbage is picked up at a normal time, emptied trash cans are no longer thrown down the street, across the lawn, etc. They are actually placed right back where they were found and ALL garbage is taken away instead of "selected" as Winter Bros was famous in my area for leaving a random bag or two behind they seemed to decide they didn't want that week.
Best move Ansonia has made in a long time. APPLAUSE!

8 VotesFix it! Voted!Hubbell Ave Ansonia, ConnecticutHow do we get a larger police presence in this area? The drug deals are blatant and out in the open, rarely even bother hoping into a car for a ride around the block any more. The tenants are loud all through the night. They sit in cars thumping music at all hours...for hours. The garbage cascades onto the sidewalk and the wind blows it around the neighborhood. Stepping over diapers to enter your house is pretty awful. Children are rude, disrespectful, everywhere and unsupervised. What can concerned tax payers do?
5 VotesFix it! Voted!Beaver Street Ansonia, CTWoke up to the 6 am roar of the trash truck and the sounds of crashing trash bins. As I leave for work I notice among the sea of trash cans in the street, my cans are still full. And this isn't the first time. Just called and chewed out the dispatcher, anyone know who contact about this
2-14 North Division Street Ansonia, ConnecticutThe town had extended dogs on leash until the end of 2015. Have they changed it for 2016? I love to walk there with my dog and we always clean up after the dog and hope we can continue this year.
4 VotesFix it! Voted!Marshall Lane & Bartholomew Ave Ansonia, ConnecticutThe house on the corner of Marshall Lane & Bartholomew Ave is a junk yard. Kids toys, trampoline, holiday decorations, you name it and it's in the FRONT yard. The house also has at least 6 cars/truck/vans parked on the grass all the time. This is NOT the image of a Hilltop resident we want. Can someone please make them clean up their act???????
Downtown Ansonia, CTWhy are they allowed to throw their snow to the middle of the street with cars going by. Is it not against the law to throw snow back into the road after plowed? Whoever cleans up their sidewalks throws sand, dirt and snow in the middle of the road for the city to clean up.
