Issues: street signal
Intersection Of Central Ave And Everett Rd Albany, NY
Cars turning LEFT onto Everett Rd from Central Ave repeatedly run the red lights, sometimes 4 or 5 cars in a row. This is due to bad design, it is really hard to turn onto Everett from Central. It is also almost impossible for pedestrian traffic to cross Everett Rd at this intersection, as their green lights are entirely taken up by people turning left or right onto Everett.
Broadway And Rt 9
on the left side, at the end of the ramp from 787 southbound. Just before the traffic light, It is about 2 feet wide and cars have to drive around it because it is right in the line of traffic.
Old State Rd At New Karner Rd Colonie, NY
I frequently drive through this intersection at night on Route 155.
The traffic light turns RED for the cars on Route 155, but is GREEN when there are no vehicles exiting from Old State Rd. or the business driveway on the east side.
This light needs to be green so cars are not stopping when they do not need to.

With the addition of all the new parking garages for AMC, the new traffic lights on Holland Avenue, and all the traffic that leaves the vicinity at 4:30 every day, there have been backups from Delaware Avenue through New Scotland Avenue (and further) on both sides of the road due to congestion. Often the traffic lights (such as the one in front of the VA) allow people from the VA and from the Albany Law parking lot to enter onto Holland, but not enough time for those on Holland to continue on their journey. Hackett backs up as well, as people use Clara Barton Road to try to bypass the traffic. It seems when they did the new intersection at Delaware and Morton, they should have added a third lane for right-turn only onto Delaware to help with the traffic.
Intersection Of New Scotland Ave And South Lake Avenue albany , ny
the timing of the traffic light at the intersection of new scotland avenue and south lake avenue needs to be adjusted so the southbound light on new scotland ave turns red before the north bound light. Inevitably what occurs is 3 to 4 cars are in the intersection when the light turns red and those cars approaching New Scotland from South Lake have to wait at a green light while the cars in the intersection travel to their destination whether it be continuing northeast on new scotland or turning left onto South Lake. I suspect that there have been no accidents at this spot but regardless it serves as both an inconvenience and potential accident site because the northbound light does not turn red first.
117 S Allen St. Albany, NY 12208
I have a question about the intersection of Western Ave., Madison Ave., and Allen St. in Albany.
Cars traveling north on Allen St, attempting to turn left onto Western, and cars traveling south on Allen St., attempting left turns onto Western and Madison sit in the short intersection, unable to turn, and also blocking traffic going straight through the intersection in either direction on Allen St.
When the traffic light changes, allowing east/west traffic, the only way to clear the intersection is for the cars stalled there to proceed against the signal. At times of heavy traffic, this causes a major tie-up.
Is there nothing that can be done to make traffic flow more smoothly through this intersection?
I don't know how many accidents are reported there, but I have witnessed many close calls.

This traffic light used to be on a sensor. Recently there was some paving done on McCormack Road and since then this light has switched to a timer. I have often had to wait at this intersection at times where there were no other vehicles on the road at all.
