Issues: street signal
Broadway And Rt 9 - Albany
on the left side, at the end of the ramp from 787 southbound. Just before the traffic light, It is about 2 feet wide and cars have to drive around it because it is right in the line of traffic.
Old State Rd At New Karner Rd Colonie, NY - Albany
I frequently drive through this intersection at night on Route 155.
The traffic light turns RED for the cars on Route 155, but is GREEN when there are no vehicles exiting from Old State Rd. or the business driveway on the east side.
This light needs to be green so cars are not stopping when they do not need to.
Princeton Dr Albany, NY 12208, USA - Albany
With the addition of all the new parking garages for AMC, the new traffic lights on Holland Avenue, and all the traffic that leaves the vicinity at 4:30 every day, there have been backups from Delaware Avenue through New Scotland Avenue (and further) on both sides of the road due to congestion. Often the traffic lights (such as the one in front of the VA) allow people from the VA and from the Albany Law parking lot to enter onto Holland, but not enough time for those on Holland to continue on their journey. Hackett backs up as well, as people use Clara Barton Road to try to bypass the traffic. It seems when they did the new intersection at Delaware and Morton, they should have added a third lane for right-turn only onto Delaware to help with the traffic.
South Pearl / Kenwood Ave - Albany
Traffic light cycles to stop traffic on S. Pearl to allow vehicles to enter from Kenwood Rd, but gates on Kenwood have been closed and locked since the school (Doane Stuart?) closed.
Intersection Of New Scotland Ave And South Lake Avenue albany , ny - Pine Hills
the timing of the traffic light at the intersection of new scotland avenue and south lake avenue needs to be adjusted so the southbound light on new scotland ave turns red before the north bound light. Inevitably what occurs is 3 to 4 cars are in the intersection when the light turns red and those cars approaching New Scotland from South Lake have to wait at a green light while the cars in the intersection travel to their destination whether it be continuing northeast on new scotland or turning left onto South Lake. I suspect that there have been no accidents at this spot but regardless it serves as both an inconvenience and potential accident site because the northbound light does not turn red first.
117 S Allen St. Albany, NY 12208 - Pine Hills
I have a question about the intersection of Western Ave., Madison Ave., and Allen St. in Albany.
Cars traveling north on Allen St, attempting to turn left onto Western, and cars traveling south on Allen St., attempting left turns onto Western and Madison sit in the short intersection, unable to turn, and also blocking traffic going straight through the intersection in either direction on Allen St.
When the traffic light changes, allowing east/west traffic, the only way to clear the intersection is for the cars stalled there to proceed against the signal. At times of heavy traffic, this causes a major tie-up.
Is there nothing that can be done to make traffic flow more smoothly through this intersection?
I don't know how many accidents are reported there, but I have witnessed many close calls.
1101 New Scotland Rd Albany, NY 12208, USA - Normanskill
This traffic light used to be on a sensor. Recently there was some paving done on McCormack Road and since then this light has switched to a timer. I have often had to wait at this intersection at times where there were no other vehicles on the road at all.
31 Robin St Albany, NY 12206, USA - West Hill
Elk and Sheridan are both one way streets going away from Robin. when the light is red on robin, there is no way for a car to come from either direction unless they are going the wrong way on a one way. There is no need for any traffic device at this intersection, Robin should be able to run continuously and you can turn onto Elk or Sheridan as you wish.
221-291 Madison Ave Albany, NY 12202, USA - Albany
The traffic light for the pedestrian crosswalk should change on a timer in the middle of the night. Wouldn't it be more efficient to have it change only when someone pushes the button to cross after say, 8:00?
45 Clayton Pl Albany, NY 12209, USA - Delaware Avenue
Children from Myers Middle School cross Hackett here, often dodging speeding cars and inattentive drivers. Move traffic light from Ramsey Place to Clayton Place and install pedestrian control so children can cross Hackett safely.
Corner Of New Scotland Ave & W Erie St Albany, NY 12203, USA - Buckingham Lake-Crestwood
now that St Theresa's school & the Church are closed, is it really necessary to have the traffic light on all the time at the corner of New Scotland Ave & W Erie? as long as there is no school in session for New Scotland Elementary, can't we get this light to be a blinking traffic light all the time or only have it working during school day hours?
36 Eagle St Albany, NY 12207, USA - Albany
More than once, the traffic light at State and eagle turns green to turn right onto Eagle and there's traffic continuing to drive through intersection. The red signal is already 2 1/2 minutes with a short timed green and no turn on red. Stop the traffic on upper State before the light or allow turn on red at this intersection.
1011-1019 Washington Ave Albany, NY 12203, USA - Upper Washington Avenue
I was at light on Danker ave to head east on washington ave. Light changed green for me. first vehicle ran light. 10 seconds later another vehicle ran light. Probably doing 40 mph. I almost didn't see second vehicle. Which would have caused nasty accident. On return trip at end of day. heading west on washington. noticed tree branches blocking view of right lane traffic light. can this tree be trimed for better view of light.
1420-1422 Washington Ave Albany, NY 12206, USA - Campus Area-University District
The traffic light at this intersection is on a timer instead of traffic sensors, leaving vehicles wasting time, money and fuel unnecessarily, especially at off hours with low traffic flow.
I reported this last fall and they said they were waiting for better weather to repair it. It is almost June, the weather looks fine to me now, when will it be repaired?
57 Hurlbut St Albany, NY - Delaware Avenue
Traffic light turns red even though there are no cars on side street and no pedestrians and school is not in session.
Waste of time and fuel waiting at light for non-existent vehicles on side street.
Fix the timing on this @#$% light. Make it a trip light or a smart light. Actually, the light isn't needed at all. The street is one way. So, vehicles on side street stop then turn right when no traffic is coming. Not a high traffic volume area. Why is there a light to begin with?
S Pearl St Albany, NY - Albany
A recent Times Union article stated that one of the reasons why this traffic light is still here (even though the side road connecting to South Pearl St. is currently unused) is to aid pedestrians in the area.
I have never seen any pedestrians crossing South Pearl St. at this location! And furthermore, if they are so worried about pedestrians, then why don't they install a proper crosswalk and crossing signals there?
I think their reason is hogwash!
This traffic light needs to be REMOVED AT ONCE, because all it does is aggravates backups (usually caused by the hundreds of slow-moving tractor-trailer trucks hogging up the road), and it serves NO PURPOSE!!!
The entrance to the Doane School is NOT USED ANYMORE!!!
GET RID OF THIS TRAFFIC LIGHT!!
428-472 Broadway Albany, NY 12207, USA - Albany
This traffic light and intersection does not allow right-on-red for vehicles waiting to turn from Broadway (heading south) even when vehicles are making State St unavailable to pedestrians. This tends to unnecessarily delay and backup traffic.
6 Delaware Ave Albany, NY 12210, USA - Albany
ever since the new traffic lights have been installed traffic get backed up in both directions of madison north and south of lark st intersection. Lark street east and west have a green light for much longer than it used to be with the old lights
Northern Blvd Albany, NY - North Albany-Shaker Park
The entire Northern Boulevard/NY Route 377/US Route 9 corridor should be called:
"The Intersection that Time Forgot".
Absolutely NOTHING has been repaired at this intersection since the late 1950's - early 1960's when this whole intersection was built!
(Oh yeah, I forgot-- they just recently put in a new traffic light at Northern Blvd. and NY 377)... Wheeee!!!
WOW! One improvement in 50 years!
But the pavement is crumbling, the road surface is buckling, potholes are big enough to break your tire right off of your car, many of the street lights are not functioning, the overpass abutments are disintegrating, and the amount of weeds and overgrowth of dead trees in this area is STAGGERING!!!
Route 378 down the street was just recently repaired wonderfully... Can't the same be done to Route 377 as well??!?!
You'd think with all the influential politicians and wealthy socialites who go to the Wolfert's Roost up the street, that they would at least attempt to clean up this section in order to gain favor with their constituency!!
Suny At Albany Albany, NY - Campus Area-University District
The traffic lights on Washington Ave. eastbound at the easternmost exit from the UAlbany campus are misaligned. Both are directed to the right of the access road. It is probably not possible to move the poles on which the lights are mounted, but it should be possible to rotate the lights facing the access road from position A as shown on the attached map to position B so that they actually are directed at the exiting lane of traffic. The lights are still somewhat visible in their current orientation, but this small change would make them much more so.
Intersection Of Central Ave And Everett Rd Albany, NY - Upper Washington Avenue
Cars turning LEFT onto Everett Rd from Central Ave repeatedly run the red lights, sometimes 4 or 5 cars in a row. This is due to bad design, it is really hard to turn onto Everett from Central. It is also almost impossible for pedestrian traffic to cross Everett Rd at this intersection, as their green lights are entirely taken up by people turning left or right onto Everett.
120 Colvin Ave Albany, NY 12206, USA - Upper Washington Avenue
left turn arrow. central ave west left turn to colvin ave stays green for 5 seconds. only allowing 2-3 cars to turn left onto colvin ave. And cars leaving westgate plaza turning left onto central ave. running red light holding cars from turning left onto colvin ave.
S Pearl St And Market Albany, NY 12207, USA - Albany
The traffic lights at this intersection can take up to 4 minutes to change. They need to be more precise based on the amount of traffic. In the morning, the bulk of the traffic is coming off the bridge. People are constrantly going through the red light being it takes forever for it to turn green.
