1422-1498 Everett Street Alameda, CA 94501, USA
I have lived in Alameda for 5 years and have seen as many accidents here. I believe one was a child fatality as ascertained by memorials tied to poles on the corner.
Unfamiliar motorists coming down Everett often mistakenly think there is a 4-way stop here and proceed into moving cross traffic. There are a lot of pedestrians here, including small children coming to and from martial arts and tumbling classes. Many motorists on Santa Clara speed through this intersection, despite the crosswalk. A 4-way stop would slow them down.
1300-1304 Santa Clara Avenue Alameda, California
There is a pedestrian crossing sign in the middle of Santa Clara Avenue at Sherman. One side of the sign is falling off and is in the traffic lane. Hopefully, no one swerves and hits anything to avoid the sign. Hopefully, no one hits the sign. Hopefully, the sign is repaired quickly.
8th Street And Haight Avenue Alameda, CA 94501, USA
Speeding cars on 8th Street make it very difficult to cross 8th at Haight Avenue. Seldom will a car stop for a pedestrian (as required by law); you must wait for a break in the flow of traffic.
431 Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway Alameda, CA 94501, USA
This traffic signal does not detect bicycles requiring cyclists to wait for a car to come behind them, press the pedestrian button (but cyclists don't have right of way in the crosswalk), or run the light. All if these are much less desire able than the signal wiring for all users. This is one of a very few ways to cross ralph appezato, so it should work.
